The research interests of Prof. Gert Storm (Department of Pharmaceutics, Utrecht University, The Netherlands) are in the fields of biopharmaceutics and drug targeting. In 2000, he was appointed as a professor (targeted drug delivery) at Utrecht University. From 2009 on, he has been an honorary professor in biomacromolecular drug delivery at the University of Copenhagen. From 2012 on, he has been a professor of targeted therapeutics at the MIRA Institute of the University of Twente (The Netherlands). Earlier in his career he was a visiting scientist at Liposome Technology Inc. in Menlo Park, CA, and visiting assistant professor at the School of Pharmacy, UCSF, San Francisco, CA, U.S.A.
He is author or coauthor of > 400 original articles, reviews, and book chapters in the fields of advanced drug delivery and drug targeting. He is a member of the editorial (advisory) boards of a variety of scientific journals. He is coordinator of an integrated project (FP6) on targeted nanomedicines (MediTrans) based on the collaboration of 30 European partners and funded by the EC and industry. He is program director of the drug delivery program embedded within the recently approved New Nano Initiative (NanoNextNL) that is sponsored by the Dutch government and industry.
